After a cautious start, the Sensex led by Kotak Bank surged 376 points in banking stocks to 40,522.
Trading started cautiously today. The Sensex opened at 40199.08 against the previous close of 40145.50, after initial modest gains in IT stocks with heavy offloading in TCS, Infosys and ONGC, HDFC Ltd, State Bank of India, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finserv, As a result of Kotak Mahindra Bank's rise, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Nestle India, NTPC, Larsen & Toubro, Titan, Maruti Suzuki, and Reliance Industries have also declined. Nifty spot jumps to 11850 again: 11899 to 11889

Kotak Mahindra Bank's profit rises 26% to Rs 1588: Axis Bank, Citibank, HDFC

Small, mid-cap stocks sell-off against index rally: 1374 stocks close negative: 223 stocks bearish circuit

FPIs / FII's net purchases of Rs 3514 crore in cash: DII's net sales of Rs 1570 crore
FIIs-Foreign Institutional Investors-Foreign Portfolio Investors-FPIs made a net purchase of Rs 3514.89 crore in cash today-Tuesday. A total of Rs 7506.05 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 11,020,94 crore. DII-domestic institutional investors had a net sale of Rs 1,570.80 crore in cash today. A total of Rs 5880.88 crore was sold against a total purchase of Rs 4310.08 crore.
