Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs are accused in a civil case of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

Jay-Z, actual name Shawn Carter, was accused in a lawsuit on Sunday of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, reportedly with Sean "Diddy" Combs.

The unidentified complainant, known only as "Jane Doe," stated that the attack occurred after she was transported to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party.

The federal action, filed in October in the Southern District of New York, named Combs as a defendant. It was refiled on Sunday to include Carter.

Tony Buzbee, the Texas-based attorney who brought the lawsuit, declined to comment.

Carter labeled the claims "idiotic" in a long statement issued Sunday evening, alleging that Buzbee acted unprofessionally.

"These charges are so horrible, I beg you to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil one!! Whoever who conduct such a crime against a minor should be imprisoned, do you not agree?" Carter stated in a statement to NBC News. "These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."

When presented an NBC News article on the complaint, a spokeswoman for the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment on whether the office is pursuing the matter.

Buzbee has filed many lawsuits against Combs in recent months, all of which have suppressed the identity of the complainants. They allege assault and rape. This is his first lawsuit in which he has identified another well-known defendant.

In a statement, Combs' legal counsel described the actions as "shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs."

"As his legal team has already stated, Mr. Combs has complete trust in the facts and the integrity of the court process. In court, the truth will be revealed: Mr. Combs never sexually abused or trafficked anyone, male or woman, adult or juvenile," the statement stated.

Combs was formally charged with racketeering, sex trafficking, and other felonies by federal prosecutors in New York in September, and he is now being held at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center after being refused bail for the third time last month. His trial is slated for May 5.

Prosecutors indicated in a court hearing last month that they are considering pursuing additional allegations against Combs in a superseding indictment.

Before the case was refiled on Sunday, "Carter received a letter from Plaintiff's counsel requesting a mediation to resolve this matter," Buzbee stated in the suit. Carter responded to the letter, which NBC News obtained, by filing his own lawsuit against the accuser's attorneys, according to Buzbee.

"You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all 'celebrities' are the same," Carter said in a statement released Sunday. "I am not from your planet. I am a young man who has made it out of Brooklyn's projects. We don't play these kinds of games. We follow extremely strong standards of honor. "We protect children."

The complaint says that in 2000, when Doe was 13, Combs and Carter assaulted her at a home party in New York during the MTV Video Music Awards.

According to the lawsuit, a friend dropped her off at the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall. She didn't have a ticket, so she contacted many limousine drivers to try to get into the event or an after-party.

According to the lawsuit, a driver told her that he worked for Combs and that she "fit what Diddy was looking for." He invited her to a party after the event and urged her to return to his car later in the evening after he drove Carter and Combs, according to the lawsuit.

The driver later picked her up, according to the complaint, and after 20 minutes, they arrived at a white house with a U-shaped driveway. She was had to sign a paper she assumed was a nondisclosure agreement upon arrival — and did not get a copy — in order to access the party, which the complaint claims was attended by celebrities as well as persons using marijuana and cocaine.

She was given a drink that made her "woozy, lightheaded, and felt [like] she needed to lie down," according to the complaint, and she walked into a room to rest.

According to the complaint, shortly after, Combs and Carter entered the room, with Combs remarking, "You are ready to party!"

Carter allegedly took her clothing, held her down, and raped her as Combs and an unnamed female celebrity looked on. She claims Combs also raped her as Carter and the lady looked on.

The suit claims that she was able to resist being forced to perform oral sex on Combs by punching him in the neck, and he "stopped."

According to the lawsuit, she "grabbed her clothes" and fled following the claimed attack. She went to a petrol station and contacted her father, it reads.

The accuser seeks unspecified damages. The complaint was filed under New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
