Holi is being celebrated across the country on Monday. Commodity and forex markets are also closed on Holi. Wholesale commodity markets, including metals and billions, are not trading. The Sensex had opened 487.40 points (1.01 percent) higher at 48,927.52 in the previous session. The Nifty opened 152.90 points, or 1.07 percent, higher at 14,477.80.

The stock market was bullish all day on Friday. The Sensex closed 568.38 points, or 1.17 percent, higher at 49008.50 and the Nifty closed 182.40 points, or 1.27 percent, higher at 14507.30.
